2025 Maaqtusiis Schools Feast

On May 15, 2025, Maaqtusiis Child Care, Maaqtusiis Elementary School, and Maaqtusiis High School proudly hosted our annual School Feast. We were honoured to welcome other schools and communities from Ahousaht and beyond who came to witness and support this meaningful celebration.

Our Cultural Education staff prepare for this event all year long, ensuring that every detail reflects the values and traditions we hold dear. Our students also take great pride in creating their own regalia, dedicating time and care to represent themselves and their culture with honour.

The day began bright and early at 8:00 a.m. with breakfast served in the MPR Room at the High School. At 10:00 a.m., the feast officially began in our school gym with the cleansing of the floor and our traditional welcome dance.

Sharing our culture is at the heart of this event, and the energy from all students and staff was truly inspiring. Throughout the day, songs, dances, and stories were shared by our schools and visiting communities, creating a powerful celebration of connection, heritage, and unity.

Each year, our School Feast continues to grow—welcoming more people, more voices, and more love. It’s a beautiful reminder of how deeply our children and grandchildren are supported and how proud we all are to keep our culture strong and thriving.
